On Your Way to Amazing

Stampin' Up! On Its Way kit "Happy Birthday" card by Becky Gifford The Social Stamper

Today I have several cards to share with you, but they have one common thread. All are created using supplies from the On Its Way Simply Sent kit.

On Its Way Kit

Sometimes I feel pity for kits… I know many stampers overlook them in fear of being too “limited” in their creative process. I am the exact opposite. Call me crazy, but in the midst of being a mom to two young children, sometimes I need a creative starting point to aid my tired brain. On top of that, I am sometimes deterred from creating because I know how hard it’s going to be to keep the kids out of my spread of supplies, and how much I’m going to dread cleaning up the big mess I always seem to make. Solution: kits. All the work is basically done for me, especially if I replicate the card design exactly.

See? I used the other sentiment from the coordinating Thanks & Hello stamp set, but other than that, the card I made is identical to the project sample included with the kit. After getting my feet wet with the initial card design, I branched out a little, still using only the materials included in the kit but this time substituting a sentiment from one of my all-time fave sets, Teeny Tiny Wishes. If you have an occasion, Teeny Tiny Wishes has your sentiment. It’s a HUGE set considering it includes 24 stamp images. Simple!

Now if you’re feeling really brave, you can start adding in some of your own supplies for a quick yet lovely little card.

The new In Color, Strawberry Slush, brightens up the tame grays and adds a sweet little touch to the card. Did you notice the new Pansy punch I used for the layered flower? I love that it’s a smaller scale than our other flower punches, so it doesn’t overwhelm the design. It’s so cute! A sparkly silver glimmer brad is the perfect center for a flower of this size.

Sweet Reunions

Stampin' Up! "Celebrate with Cake" card featured image by Becky Gifford The Social Stamper

After nearly a year away from my former home sweet home, the littles and I returned to the great state of Texas. I learned a lot while traveling alone with two children under the age of three– it all boils down to these two things: stuff their faces with snacks, and for the sake of your sanity, ask for and accept help when you need it. Whether help comes from a friend who is willing to help you at the airport, a flight attendant who holds baby #2 while you change your stubborn and squirmy preschooler’s dirty diaper in a porta-potty sized airplane bathroom, or a well-meaning business traveler who offers to carry a bag for you during his long layover, those moments will become the silver lining of a challenging situation.
