Glitter Ombré Video Tutorial

FINALLY! I recorded the footage for this tutorial so long ago it seems like it’s been a lifetime, probably because we’ve had half a lifetime’s worth of crazy happening. Since my last post, my husband and I have celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary, bought a house, packed up the old house, moved into the new house, planned and executed a joint 3rd/1st firefighter birthday party for my boys, and saw my husband off for a “long trip,” as my little man calls it. As in 6 months long. I think I’m hitting my groove now, thank goodness!

The fabulous thing about all the chaos is that my new home is amazingly perfect for hosting stamping events. The formal-living-room-turned-office houses all my stamping goodies and office supplies (and my new house splurge, a Pottery Barn corner modular Printer’s Desk). Connected to my office is the formal dining room, which contains the dining table that we’ve used almost daily for the last 7 years. It has been moved between 4 different states, survived 3+ years of kid abuse (with only one of the seat cushions damaged by a certain son of mine who got his hands on my craft and rubber scissors… but that’s a story for another day), and has served as both a craft table for myself and a dining table for my family. Can I tell you how much I loathe cleaning up my projects before dinner every night so we can eat together? Well do a happy dance for me, because we finally have space again for our second (smaller) dining table, which will serve as the primary eating space. No more pre-dinner project-stacking for me!!

It also means I’m finally able to get back to doing what I love, which is creating and sharing with you. First order of business, the video tutorial that has been sitting in my iMovie application for nearly 3 months. 3 MONTHS! Good grief. Well, 3 months ago I was so inspired by the Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details that I couldn’t help but jump right into creating with it. Additionally, one of the trends I’ve been making googly eyes at is anything and everything ombré. I’m painting the walls in my home gym a green ombré, fading from a happy spring green to a barely-there green glow. I’m hoping the color fade will energize while I’m sweating on the treadmill, and be calming while I enter my zen zone with yoga and Pilates. Wishful thinking? Maybe. Point is I’m mildly obsessed with ombré. So I made a card with a gradient sparkly silver background, and I wanted to share how I accomplished the effect with you. Enjoy, and be sure to let me know your experiences in the comments below when you try the technique for yourself!
