CHALLENGE: 2-for-1! Holiday Home and Good Greetings PPA 216 cards

Are you looking for card making inspiration? Check out Pals Paper Arts, a fun way to get inspired, show off your creations, and possibly win some recognition as a Pals Paper Arts pick! This week is a sketch challenge, PPA 216. New PPA challenges are released the 1st-4th Thursday of every month, and if you’re wanting to upload a card for the contest, entries are due by the following Tuesday. Sometimes I’ll browse the archives for some inspiration when I’m feeling a little brain-drained (like that ever happens to a mom– ha!).

PPA 216 Pals Paper Arts sketch challengeI’ve been busy designing for an upcoming class I’m teaching that focuses on the Holiday Home stamp set. The set will be released in the upcoming Holiday Catalog, which you can view on August 28th. The wait is almost over! Woo hoo! I used this sketch as inspiration for one of the card projects for my class, what do you think?

I’m excited to start teaching classes again, if you’re local to my area please contact me to attend one of my events! I have a lot of fun things planned. You can view and print my class schedule for more details. Here’s a close-up of the Holiday Home card:

Do you like the sparkly roof line? Here’s a TIP! I stamped the top part of my tall house-shaped image onto the BACK of my glimmer paper– the side that’s not glittery. It’s a good idea to stamp using a permanent ink like StazOn™ so it doesn’t smear, but that’s not a requirement. Then, simply use your paper snips to cut out the roof line and adhere to your project with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Simple and you’ll get a perfect fit! You can try this out with any stamp image shape, I would love to see what you come up with!

You get some extra inspiration today, yippee! I made a second card using the PPA 216 sketch challenge, and it’s completely different from the first card. Fun, right? One of the ladies on Team Social Stampers just dropped her daughter off at college, and is having an understandably emotional time even though she’s so proud. Isn’t it funny how times of celebration can also feel like times of heartache? I made a card using her daughter’s school colors to let her know I’m thinking of her and I’m by her side during this season.

I took a little artistic liberty with the background. I planned for the ombré effect to stop around the half-way mark, but I got a little too in-the-groove as I painted the ink (I used an aqua painter filled with water and a couple drops of a Garden Green ink refill, and worked the color down the watercolor paper until I was happy with the shading). Creating takes you to another place sometimes, which is nice in my opinion. It’s like a mini-vacation!

There’s that glimmer paper again! I really love it, you just can’t beat how sparkly it is. Also, do you love the font in the sentiment? That’s a sneak peek at the Good Greetings stamp set. What if I told you that the entire Good Greetings set, with a whopping 19 (!!!) adorable sentiment stamps, is totally free?? Yep, there’s an upcoming promotion where you can get the Good Greetings set for free by being the host of a $300 party, in addition to all the normal host benefits. Both of your cards are terrific! Love the scene you created with Holiday Home, especially the sparkly rooftop. The ombré effect watercoloring is great too. I know your friend will appreciate you thinking of her with such a lovely card! Thanks for joining us at the Pals Paper Arts this week.
