3D: Digital Hybrid Reunion Banner

Photo: 2004 Banner

Do you ever feel like life events seem to sneak up on you? I’m helping to plan my 10-year high school reunion, and the events are taking place this weekend. 10 years goes by so fast on one hand, and on the other hand there has been a TON of life squeezed into the past decade. I attended college, got married, graduated college with a B.S. in Kinesiology, lived in 3 states at 5 different addresses, had the births of my 2 boys, and my husband achieved his life-long dream of being a fighter pilot. It makes me so overwhelmed to reflect on God’s goodness to our little family! We are abundantly blessed.

I’m really looking forward to traveling “home” to CO, it will be my first flight in nearly 4 years where I won’t have kids with me! It’s a good thing the flight is long, I have a pretty lengthy checklist of things I’d like to do kid-free. At the top of the list? Take a nap! I’m not a great plane-sleeper but I’m going to give it my best shot since I don’t have to worry about the little ones running wild while I snooze. I am anticipating not having a clue what to do with my hands, they’re always so preoccupied with parenting duties. That reminds me I should probably bring some stamping, right??

Part of my reunion planning duties included making a banner for the events. Here is what I came up with!

Photo: Reunion Banner

Here’s a closeup of the banner flags. TIP! I used a Stampin’ Spritzer with some rubbing alcohol and a few drops of  Smoky Slate ink refill to add some character to the otherwise plain Whisper White flags.

Do-It-Yourself: Have you ever wished a stamp image was larger? Did you know you can make a stamp image any size you’d like using the My Digital Studio software? There are a TON of stamp sets, both retired and current, that have corresponding digital downloads in my online store, in addition to exclusive MDS artwork. So fun! To make the larger letters for my banner, I started with a blank 8.5″ x 11″ canvas, arranged all of the stamp image letters I needed from the Morning Post Alphabet and Morning Post Numbers digital downloads, sized them according to my needs, and printed the page out using my home printer and a sheet of Whisper White cardstock. Then, I simply cut them out using my Paper Snips and adhered them to my spritzed flags using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give extra visual interest.  Here’s what the page looked like post-printing:

If you’d like to make your own banner and don’t want to waste time planning measurements and figuring out the best way to cut the flags, I have an online class with project directions in a PDF format available for only $9.95. The class is for a patriotic banner, but I used the same Whisper White and decorative Night of Navy flags for the reunion banner. In fact, I used pieces I had already cut out for Patriotic Banner kits that I prepared for a class to make my new banner. What kinds of banners will you create? After you learn the process, the possibilities are endless!

DIGITAL: Baby Book, And Then There Were 3

It’s MDS Monday here at The Social Stamper! MDS stands for My Digital Studio– it’s the digital crafting software produced by Stampin’ Up!, and it’s fabulous because it’s like having a fully-stocked craft room… on your computer! That means it takes up zero real estate in your house, there is absolutely no mess when creating, and you can pick up a project (and put it down) at the click of a computer mouse.

Today’s page is the third page in my oldest son’s baby book. One of the highlights for me about becoming a parent was the realization that the family Taylor and I formed when we got married had made a big leap. For years, through our dating relationship and then for over 4 years of marriage, we had always just been a couple. Just the two of us (you sang that as you read it, I know you did!). Now, our lives and family were more than just us, we had become a family of three! This page is a special reminder to me that God has given us an abundance in so many areas, and the gift of children is certainly near the top of that list. Our kids have brought us abundant joy, abundant opportunities to learn and grow (wink wink), abundant laughter, abundant love. For me, this photo captures a small essence of that moment where God began to pour out His abundance into our family through our kiddos. It’s just special to me.

HOT: Buy a Big Shot, get a Bundle!

Graphic: Buy a Big Shot, get a free bundle

My customers are buzzing with excitement over the August promotion: buy a Big Shot, get a free product bundle that includes a stamp set and coordinating Framelits! Framelits are thin metal dies that cut out shapes using the Big Shot machine. Stampin’ Up! coordinates certain images within stamp sets to be quickly and easily cut out using punches and Big Shot dies, which saves so much time. Watch this video to see the Big Shot in action.

Already have a Big Shot machine and feeling left out? Not to worry, Friend, the bundles are 15% off for you during this promotion.

(P.S., if you join my Team Social Stampers group in August, you can place an order for the Big Shot at a 20% discount, get the free bundled products, and then order any of the remaining discounted bundles at a 35% total discount! If your first order within 45 days of joining is at least $150, you could get an extra 10% discount on your whole order, which means a 30% savings on the Big Shot with free bundle, and 45% off of retail pricing on the other bundles!! Now THAT’s a sweet deal!)

Here are the details for the bundles (prices shown are the 15% off discounted price, but the bundles are free with a Big Shot purchase in August):

You’ll definitely want to get your Big Shot before the Holiday Catalog is released on August 28th, because it has so many awesome Big Shot products– including more discounted bundles specifically for the fall and winter seasons and holiday festivities!
