I did it!

Recently, Stampin’ Up! has started “testing” local events scattered across the country. These events are called Unite & Excite… bet you can guess what the purpose is! Here’s what I found exciting: the event was just over an hour away from me! In the past, Stampin’ Up! events have been something I would have to travel long distances for, stay in hotels, etc. I’m not saying that those events wouldn’t be worth it, but obviously it would be a bigger challenge than driving a short distance. Add in the chance to meet and connect with other demonstrators from the area, stamp and laugh together, and I knew I couldn’t miss this opportunity.

Then I got… the call. An upbeat call from the upbeat event organizer (a fellow NC demonstrator), asking me if I would be willing to be a speaker at the event. Gulp. BIG GULP! I really do well in front of crowds, after all I was a college cheerleader back-in-the-day, but public speaking is just plain intimidating. Nod your head with me so I don’t feel alone! It is intimidating, right? Before I even had much time to process the request, a reply sprung from my mouth. “Of course, I’d love to!” I might have problems telling people “no.” Or maybe I was compelled to do it somehow. And maybe in the few seconds afterward I was questioning myself up one side and down the other. But I’m a woman of my word, so a speaker I became. I did it! Woot!

When all was said and done, I had a really great time. I even enjoyed the speaking part! Stampin’ Up! events are always jam packed with awesome ideas, so of course there were display boards galore. I won a free stamp set from Prize Patrol (Freaky Friends from the new Holiday Catalog), everyone received a free Everyday Occasions Kit (score!), and I was graciously given a Merry Everything set from Stampin’ Up! and a special little treat from the event organizer for speaking. It pays to step out when you get free stamps and treats! The best part of course was meeting new stamping friends. You can never have enough of those. Here are some photos from the event, enjoy!

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what fun opportunities we have as Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. The really good news is that you don’t have to stand on the sidelines and watch everyone else having all the fun. I would like to invite you to be a part of all the excitement and take a test drive to see if Stampin’ Up! really is everything I’ve said and more. I am a very inclusive person who loves making people feel special, and I want to help you be a part of something absolutely amazing if you’re willing :o)

Cheers to stepping out of a comfort zone!
