Sweet Start: Inspiration to get you through the day

I’ve got some exciting blog changes to tell you about, but first, let me share this project with you that I posted on my Social Stamper Facebook page recently. I know that it’s after Christmas already, but this project features the new Mini Treat Bag Framelits Die that will be released with the upcoming Occasions Catalog on January 5th. Too cute!

Now onto some blog changes. Let me begin by “outing” myself a bit. I am the worst morning person. EVER. I am a hit-the-snooze-button-ten-times-and-run-late-the-whole-day kind of girl, it’s absolutely pathetic. The problem is, I’m a mom. In His great wisdom, God left the snooze button off of my children, which means I am forced to wake up at hours that do not satisfy my sleep-in tendencies. So, what’s a girl to do? Round up her girlfriends, of course! I need a “get-your-cranky-butt-out-of-bed” intervention, sister. I’m counting on you to hold me to my commitment to improve in this area, be brutal if you have to! There’s a comment section below every post for you to check in on my progress.

In return for your solidarity, I’d like to offer you a unique new blog atmosphere that combines my two most beloved past-times: stamping, and Bible study. I know it’s easier for me to wake up and get my day going when I have something to look forward to. My brain is too foggy to process internal motivation before 9 a.m., so I depend on external motivation like scheduled morning events, time with friends, a hot cup of mint tea, or on that one beloved day of the year, Christmas, to get me out of bed. I also know that when I start my day by setting my mind in the right place, rather than a place of grouchiness (which is my automatic wake-up mode), I can maintain a much better perspective when the inevitable kid drama ensues. Oh boy, do we have drama! Mama needs a head start on staying calm to fend off all that crazy drama.

I’d love to help others get a head start on fending off their daily drama, too. So, on January 1st, get ready for the inaugural Sweet Start post format. Sweet Start will focus first on the Word of God, to elevate our minds and hearts toward the Source of all peace. Then, I’ll share a stamping project so you can be inspired. Whether you’re an avid stamper or not, looking at inspiring things is a mood-boost. That’s why people go on arduous hikes to remote mountain locations, right? I can’t think of any other reason why you’d put yourself through that kind of physical challenge. Maybe you’ll find my projects to be pretty to look at if nothing else. If you are an avid stamper, then hopefully my projects will give you an infusion of inspiration that will carry you through the mundane parts of the day until you’re able to finally unwind and ink up your stamps.

During my own stamping time, I’m going to be intentional about reflecting on my Bible study, really giving myself a chance to absorb the lesson. Maybe you would like to do that as well! Here’s my planned post schedule, but please give me grace as I try to give myself grace for the *hopefully* occasional deterrence. This is uncharted territory for me, both posting daily and putting Bible study notes out there to the public. Never one to back down from difficulty, I’m excited about the challenge!

  • Sunday- Sweet Start {mini} version, with a quick Bible-based thought or reflections on the past week of study, and an inspiring project.
  • Monday- Sweet Start & Memories Monday, a time for me to share what I’m working on for my family memory-keeping. These projects might be digital, using My Digital Studio, traditional scrapbook pages, This & That Journal inspiration, or Project Life by Stampin’ Up! ideas.
  • Tuesday- Tuesday updates and weekly news so you’re always aware of specials and promotions. I want you to get the best Stampin’ Up! deals!
  • Wednesday- Sweet Start post
  • Thursday- Sweet Start post featuring the weekly Stampin’ Pretty Pals Paper Arts challenge!
  • Friday- Sweet Start post
  • Saturday- Sweet Start post

Don’t forget about monthly Pals blog hops! Those are always a ton of fun and will be woven into my Sweet Start post schedule as well. There is one more change that I hope you’ll like: a stamp set challenge. I’ll pick a stamp set, and I’ll use that set on virtually every project I post to my blog for a whole 2 weeks, with the exception of Memory Monday projects. After 2 weeks, I’ll move on to another set. Is there a stamp set you’re dying to see used in unique ways? I’ll be happy to take any sets into consideration, just contact me and let me know your stamp set challenge pick!

I realize that not everyone browsing for Stampin’ Up! ideas on the internet is into Bible study, but this is really who I am. I hope that if you fall into that category, you’ll either skim over the spiritual part to get to the creative portion, or maybe even read my Bible study thoughts and reflect on whatever points resonate with you personally. It might not be the most popular blog combo, but the core of the Stampin’ Up! Statement of the Heart is to share what we love, knowing that it makes a difference. I’m committed to sharing liberally with you, and I’d love to hear about it if you feel like I’ve made a difference in your life!

Cheers to making changes in 2015,
