About The Social Stamper
Hello and welcome to TheSocialStamper.com!
I’m Becky Gifford, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, and creator of The Social Stamper. I married my handsome husband in 2006, and currently, home for us is in eastern North Carolina.
Shortly after being introduced to the wonderful world of Stampin’ Up! by a sweet friend in Texas in 2009, I joined as a demonstrator before I ever attended a party. In fact, here’s a fun bit of personal trivia: I’ve never attended a Stampin’ Up! party where I wasn’t the demonstrator! I knew from the moment I stamped my first card that stamping was my going to be my thing. In the beginning I never intended to sell the products, only get a discount on my extensive wish list. Then, about a month after signing my demonstrator agreement, I found out my husband and I were expecting our first baby. Since stamping was just a hobby for me at the time, I let my demonstrator status lapse shortly before my son was born thinking I would be too consumed by my new role to think about stamping. To my surprise, in those early weeks and months of motherhood I found myself eager to interact with other adults and have something that I could call my own. Previously I had found success working in the insurance and financial services industry, but since I decided to be a stay-at-home mom, I was missing an outlet for the side of me that is goal-oriented and ambitious. After a 5-month hiatus I re-joined Stampin’ Up!, this time knowing I was ready to build a business and create opportunities to socialize with friends around paper crafting. The rest, as they say, is history!
Second to being a mom to my two sons, for me being a Demonstrator is the best job in the world. It is very fulfilling to see people’s inner creative side blossom when stamp hits paper. I assure you, creativity is like a muscle… if you don’t use it, you lose it! But begin to add creativity into your life, and see the amazing transformation.
Stamping for me is a stress reliever, a way for me to exercise my creative muscle (which, consequently, helps me confront daily challenges– like parenting– with fresh and effective solutions), a confidence builder (I really can create something worthwhile!), and a fun hobby. But, more than any of those things, stamping is a way for me to love others. The guiding principle of my life is to love God first, and others as myself. There is a verse in the Bible that summarizes my beliefs well for me:
“And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.”
~ 1 John 3:23, NIV
A special characteristic of this business is that your creations are often intended to give away. My how this world could change by igniting an atmosphere of giving! Giving is a way to show genuine love and appreciation to others, and I encourage you to do it often and wholeheartedly. My primary goal in creating The Social Stamper is not to have people merely interacting with me (although that’s super fun and encouraging to me!), it’s to facilitate meaningful interactions through various social platforms, whether online or in person. If you like to encourage or be encouraged, love or be loved, then for heaven’s sake, socialize! Share a Social Stamper blog post you find inspiring. Post a photo of a creation you’re proud of on my Facebook page. Leave a comment on a post or photo you like. What goes around comes around, so share the love!
Ultimately, if you find that you’re drawn to the positive atmosphere I’ve established, the biggest compliment you can offer me is to join my group of enthusiastic paper crafters, Club Social Stampers. If you have questions about the demonstrator opportunity, visit my FAQ’s page.
